THE MISSION

"There are only two lasting bequests we can give our children
- one is roots; the other, wings."
-William Hodding Carter

Here's To Life Foundation was created to sponsor and promote self-esteem, compassion and positive life choices through art and entertainment to teens at risk, and others who need an uplifting, inspiring, transformational experience.

THE PURPOSE

Throughout history, humans have struggled with being at peace and living a life of happiness. So, too, it is with our youth of today. We see them troubled, intolerant, hopeless and many at risk of losing their lives, in one way or another. We stand by and watch them in pain in their attempt to desensitize themselves through drugs, violence and self-destruction. Solving today's crisis of healing our next generation takes time, effort and energy.  There are many positive pathways.

Healing through the medium of art and entertainment has always been a powerful catalyst for presenting sensitive issues in a non-cognitive way. The Here's To Life Foundation has gathered together talented, skilled and devoted professionals, artisans and lay people, who share the same passion of reaching out to the human spirit. Our team is dedicated. Our goal is directed. Our vision is strong. As it says in the quote, "there are only two lasting bequests we can give our children - one is roots; the other, wings," the Here's To Life Foundation is committed to making this vision a reality.

The Here's To Life Foundation is unique in its approach. We have learned through our 20+ years of experience in writing, producing, directing live theatre, particularly with the award winning musical "Pepper Street," which sponsored over 3000 teens at risk during it's 5 year run, that the power of music and inspirational story telling, can help thousands of young people break free from their hardened shells. Teens from residential and non residential treatment centers, prisons, homeless shelters, various juvenile facilities and countless other at risk organizations attended special performances, locked up and resistant to life. When they left, they were uplifted, expressing the deepest most vulnerable parts of themselves, crying with hope.

Just as a tree seedling has the God given chance to burst forth from its tiny embryonic shell, every child has the right to break free from their hardened past. The Here's To Life Foundation wants to give these kids a second chance to life, a chance that can make all the difference in the world. Let them be rooted in love, nourishment and inspiration, so that they may fly out into the world, knowing they make a difference, knowing they are God's gift of life.

"Here's to life…."
